The hotel is in a great location and is clean. The service at the hotel was actually good and we had a positive experience. Here is where things started to go wrong. At 8 am Sunday morning, the front desk called to tell us that my credit card did not go through and I would need to come to the front desk. I did so. They were as nice as can be and I really had no complaints at that time. Absolutely fabulous 3 day stay at the Charlottesville location for my daughter and me. Everything was stellar. Kathy Brown is outstanding and extremely knowledgeable, warm and friendly! James is great! The sole reason for docking 1 star is that it was an unwelcome surprise to discover that we were charged $5.00 p/day for parking. This is ridiculous and unmitigated greed on the part of corporate headquarters. I called to inquire about the charge, which hopefully will be reversed. Definitely not an ideal memory of Sonesta.
Stayed here for a concert at John Paul Jones arena!! Loved that it was walking distance!! From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out the stay was fantastic!! The room was clean, had everything we could possibly need for our stay!! Most importantly the staff were super helpful and friendly!!
Updated March2025 Review: Not like my first experience in February. This time, I travelled solo and had a 1 bedroom. Was not very clean - other people’s hairs in the shower/stuck to shower curtain. However, the real knock came when, one night, I spotted two cockroaches in my room. The staff were receptive to my concerns, and I did receive additional cleaning the next day which seemed to help (didn’t see any more bugs after that).
