Amazing stay at Merchant LES! The location is perfect, the restaurant is excellent, and the rooftop bar is one of the best spots in the area. Great service, comfortable accommodations, and a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend!
Every single day this hotel charged 70 dollars to my card without authorisation or reason. I asked for it to be amended and was reassured it was, yet the payments continued. On checkout I wanted to ask again how to fix this, but there was no receptionist working at 07:40am which I find highly bizarre for a hotel. On check in the receptionist is essentially useless given they make you go through a online check in, aka replacing their own job, and if you have a foreign phone number they’ll attempt to send this link for ten min... read more
Absolutely adorable city hotel: cozy, loungey, sensibly designed.
The location is the one thing I can recommend without reservation: subway stations are a few blocks away, and the neighborhood is full of good options for food, drinks, and shopping. That's where the positives end. The room was small and unremarkable — significantly overpriced for what you get. The service was worse. Check-in set the tone: the receptionist wasn't rude, exactly, but came across as mildly inconvenienced at being pulled away from her phone. We had an amazing stay at The Merchant, an incredible location in the Lower East Side so close to great restaurants, shopping and coffee shop. The team were really helpful and room was a good size for NY, still fairly small but a lovely room. We’ll be booking to stay again.
