I had a very disappointing experience with Sonder. I booked a stay months in advance at their location in Hillsboro Village (2111 Belcourt Ave) through Airbnb, and just a week before my trip, they abruptly cancelled my reservation, stating they could no longer honor it due to a contract default with Marriott. There was no real explanation, no personal outreach, and no genuine effort to help me find alternative accommodations. Sonder simply sent a message and went silent. We have booked a two-bedroom apartment for one night in Nashville (Oct 4-5) on Sep 10th, and we were able to successfully book it and actually paid for it then. Just a couple hours ago today, we received a text message from the apartment saying that they won't be able to give us the two-bedroom we have booked, so it is either to give us a one-bedroom apartment instead or cancel it and get a refund. Charged my credit card day of then cancelled my reservation because they were over booked. Notified me over text message. Didn't provide any further assistance. Booked direct through Marriott, Titanium member, had to spend 2.5 hours on the phone to get any sort of compensation but never got a resolution.

Really disappointed in this stay. I booked one night in a 1br/1ba unit using Bonvoy points. I received a notification shortly before check-in that I was “downgraded” to a studio “due to unforeseen availability issues”. I inquired about a partial refund, but it took two follow-ups to only be offered 1,000 points. Further, after checking in, I was sneezing quite a bit. Horrendous. This was once a great place to stay near Vanderbilt, but between access codes not working (and having to wait upwards of half an hour for help!) and the A/C failing in the middle of summer, this Sonder is awful. The customer service is at best gently apologetic but won't offer any real solutions, such as moving you to another room or arranging another place to stay. I used to stay at Sonders a lot, and at this one in particular; no more.
