I was only looking for a mouth guard to stop me from chewing the inside of my cheek when I sleep, but when I was told this could help with my sleep apnea I thought I would give it a go. Being ND I cannot tolerate CPAP and was unable to sleep while using a cheaper "demo" mouth guard from a different sleep apnea centre. I have been using the SomnoMed Avant for 4 months and it has been brilliant. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate sleep apnea and snored quite often. My dentist (Best St Dental) recommended the oral device and it was perfect from day one. The support of my dentist was excellent and they made the process very easy. Dear All, I was desperate to replace my soft sleep apnea mouthguard which isn’t made anymore as they don’t last long. My newer dentist doesn’t make devices (through a lab) so I sought another dentist who recommended the SomnoDent Avant. The mould was taken so was $1,800 but when it arrived it was like a gripping vice on my teeth the likes I have never encountered before. It really hurt. Terrible! I couldn’t adapt , it was a torture sleep with Somnomed, Pain in my jaws, and I still snore! Hope get my $2100 back.
