I would never move back here. I would say you get what you pay for, (they are old and janky) but they have raised their prices so much it is insane. If it was significantly cheaper it would be fine, but the ratio of price to quality is horrific. Only good thing is the distance to campus. Floors are warped, ceilings leak, drawers are broke, my fridge didn’t have a handle for an entire semester. I wouldn’t live anywhere owned by Rexburg housing.
Somerset has been wonderful because I get to live so close to the STC. Jake from maintenance is always on top of fixing my requests. And Shelby the manager is easy to contact with questions.
Do not go here. My brother and I were supposed to be roommates at room 215, other apartments make sure those rooms are clear for us to enter. Room 215 was full. We were moved to room 213 where there was still people, but we made do. A day later, a guy who was supposed to be in 213 came by, and we had to tell him to find another place. The apartments are filthy and poorly maintained. Both bathrooms had severe dry rot. The only good thing about this place is that it’s across from campus. They will charge you for every little particle of dust during clean checks. The price of rent is way too much for the quality of this musty apartment.
It took a while to adjust, but after some time, I learned to love living at Somerset! Everyone knows it’s not the nicest place around, and there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed, but overall I’m pleased with what I got for the amount of $ I paid. What mattered most to me was the overall atmosphere of Somerset- which was so positive and welcoming! It felt like a little community; everyone there was so friendly and kind.
