From my personal experience, I think SSA offices get a bad rep. I've recently visited them 3 times, here's how they all went: 1. Arrive early at 8:00 and wait in car, people start waiting in line at 8:30, doors open 8:50~55, get number from machine, wait maybe 10 minutes and get called up pretty quickly, did not get the exact service I wanted since they don't do walk-ins for that particular service, but was able to set up an appointment for 2 weeks later (which was the earliest) 2. 2 weeks later, arrive 30 minutes before app... read more
My experience was very good at Social Security office in Madison, WI when I went there in person 2 weeks ago and saw the entire row of offices dark & unoccupied, yet 3 women at front desk windows were so efficient with great customer service skills that everything was handled promptly! I don't know why people complain when this small staff is so excellent and the wait is not long!
Not a good experience. I made it through the menu options and was placed in a queue where I waited for 15 minutes only to then be told by a new recording that they were experiencing higher than normal calls (?) and to call back at another time. My call was then disconnected. The queue graph, which reflects real times indicated, "not to busy". This is unacceptable! To post this review I had to begrudgingly click on at least one star.
I don't blame the employees cuz it's super busy there. Almost impossible to get an SSN appointment through the phone and when I walked-in with every document they need, they refused to serve me because I don't have an appointment. What a shame 👎
