BBQ is not consistent! Just go for their Cornbread! – I guess the reason why there are so many mixed reviews is because there bbq is always inconsistent. For example, one time i ordered a small order of rib tips and got way more food than i could handle and they were tasty (i even reminded the waitress that i ordered a small rib tip, and she said that was a small order!). Overall Rating – This place used to be great! Now that Division St. is so upscale, the portion size has changed (4 slices of brisket) in a non-descript bun for $8.50. A half of sandwich used to fill almost anyone up with a 1/2 sandwich to take home. The sweet fries where cut so thin, all they tasted like was greasy skin overly browned. I think when you moved to plates from the basket, something drastically changed. What happened Smoke Daddy's. You used to be so excellent!
This is a waste – Add a bit of liquid smoke - molasses and some cheap fatty gristle and call it bbq .. I wont waste my time ever again .. the service was awful by the time I received a menu I could of ordered at a drive thru much faster .. Not on my best list at all ..and its next to the bar I frequent (SHEESH )
I finally found what I was looking for – Upon walking in, the walls are filled w/ wonderful pictures of all the Jazz and Blues greats. The air is filled w/ the thick aroma of "down home" Barbecue. Something that can definately be enjoyed w/ a crowd, or that special someone. You can cozy up in a candle lit booth or sit and enjoy w/ a group at a table. The service is fast and friendly. Not good – Was expecting alot more for the rating. The ribs were nothing out of the ordinary.
Wow, GREAT BBQ – The Smoke Daddy offers excellent Spare Ribs, and a great array of side dishes to compliment the ribs. The music is excellent, although a little loud if you want to talk while you eat! They have an excellent outdoor dining area in the front of the restaurant. The only thing I can recommend is that if you want to eat late, call to make sure they are open for food. We went on a Thursday, at 11:30pm, and found the Kitchen had just closed. Get a bottle of their suace if you can. It is excellent to use at home!!!
Holy crap, thats some good BBQ – I was depressed when I found out Brother Jimmy's, my BBQ mecca was going out of business. I searched high and low for quality BBQ, only to be sadly disappointed every time. Until now. Smoke Daddy. Wow. Great Value (12 bucks for enough food to fill the largest carnivore), a cool atmosphere (dark, candles, live music), and the best BBQ you'll have in the Windy City. The Daddy Is Smokin'! – A great place to relax and enjoy a good meal. The new patio is a real plus, and adds to the atmosphere. The neighborhood is not such a dive joint, many nice bars and restaurants are located in the area. I recommend everything on the menu, you can't go wrong with a platter. One requirement.......must love meat! I would not recommend this to vegeterians. Oh yeah, you've gotta try the fries.
BEST RIBS EVER – Ribs were lean and meaty. Tender, but not wimpy that they fell off the bone. Fantastic BBQ and hot sauces. Good service. Avoid the "Chicken Dinner" It's just 4 dry breast filets with not much flavor, but that's what you get for ordering chicken when such incredible ribs are an option. The band was entertaining as well.
