Absolutely unethical. I brought my car in for a smog test and told the owner beforehand that my check engine light was on after some recent repairs. What I didn’t know—but any licensed smog tech absolutely does—is that a check engine light is an automatic fail in California. He ran the test anyway, knowing it would fail, just so he could charge me $80 for a “free” retest as opposed to the original $60. I had a great experience at this location the guy was professional, friendly, and efficient. He got my smog check done quickly and explained everything clearly. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, and he even finished ahead of schedule. It’s clear he care about customer service and doing the job right. I’ll definitely be coming back here for future smog checks—and recommending him to friends and family too. Five stars all the way!
