It was a very good experience, particularly if you are interested in learning about the conservation and history of animals. My two favorite exhibits were the Think Tank and the Elephant Community Center, not only because I got to learn more about animals, but also how brains, logic and thinking works in different species.
Paid parking, but free entry. Excellent place to visit.
The Smithsonian Zoo is a great to place to go. You can make a day of it. If you have kids they will absolutely love it. They have good food and drinks. They also sell alcohol. They have wagons and strollers for rent if you need one or forgot yours. We had a great time.
