My daughter was fortunate to have Matthew Smiley as her public defender in a recent case. He was proactive from the beginning in that he took the time to thoroughly review the details of the case and also listen to my daughter and understand the nuances of our side of the story. My name is John A and I had the privilege of working with Mr. Smiley. I had a severe F4 case which had been continuing for years. Mr. Smiley took over for a lawyer by the name of Mr. Townsend which in my opinion should not be practicing as I released him of his duties. Matthew Smiley was professional and compassionate. Very knowledgeable about probation violations. No matter when I would call or text he always had time to talk and clear up my worries. We would definitely use him again in a heart beat…. But we are both hoping that will not be necessary ever again.
