Although the comments below are outdated I think everyone fails to realize SLJ is not the building owners! All SLJ does is collect maintenance fees for the owners of the building that they manage! So are they really scamming you or following protocol?? I recently went and one of the property managers helped removed all the late fees from my account I've always experience good there.

Report this company to the State License Board – SLJ is an organized crime: they extort money from the condo unit owners; they defraud the condo owners by not disclosing their majority owner posiion in the property; they make you pay high maintenance fees but won't let you examine the books. Report them to the state license board: Complaints@dos.ny.gov

WORST MANAGEMENT COMPANY – This has to be the worst company in all of the New York area. I do not know why this company has not been complained about on multiple sites. The owner is a flat out jerk. He is rude, inconsiderate, a lairs and will try to scam you with fees. He is a crook that is lazy and will not manage his properties. Absolutely terrible - Unprofessional, unresponsive, amateur – As a condo owner, I am absolutely fed up with SLJ Property Management. They are unresponsive and rude on the phone but they sure love to tack on extra fees. Who is on the board? When is our next board meeting? No response. Why is there a "sublet fee" on my account when I'm living there myself? Why is there a 'sublet fee' at all? No response, late fee.
