Dr. Slack has been my physician for over 10 years. She knows me inside and out. I would HIGHLY recommend her. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate....
My whole family has used Dr Slack for the past 1.5 years and have had a great experience every time. She has been friendly, knowledgable and helpful in a variety of situations. She helped me get the care I needed to diagnose a hole in my heart, a condition that has been missed by many doctors over the years. I have taken my teenage daughter to her twice. Once for a refill on her asthma inhaler and once for a suspicious looking mole. Both times, she breezed in and out in a matter of SECONDS, didn't listen, and actually told me to shut up! Caryn Slack is rude, uncaring, and does not listen. Do not see this doctor.
I went to Dr Slack b/c I haven't felt well since the birth of my daughter and wanted to get some blood work. She said 2 word sentences, barely looked up from her computer more then a couple times. Gave a 1/2 smile 1 time the whole time she was in there at my kids. Told me when I mentioned I have a sister w/Fibromyalgia (sp?) that "Fibromyalgia is kind of a 'catch all' diagnosis like depression." Okay?! I have seen Dr. Slack twice and I thought that she was okay. The first visit she asked a lot of questions and I got a referral the following day. The second visit she did a work-up and between the two visit I had the lab work done and we reviewed that. For me, she has been okay. The referral service that she works with if very efficient.
Do NOT take pediatric patients to this provider. She told me to "wait and and see" with my son, who was then diagnosed as PDD NOS (a form of autism). I lost valuable intervention opportunities for my son as a result of her lack of recognition of Autism signs. I was very unimpressed with her attitude on a follow up phone call after my child was diagnosed.
Dr. Slack was rude and unwilling to listen to any of my concerns. I went to her in an emergency situation as my health coverage was about the end and she did not even ask anything about my circumstance or my history. She acts like she knows everything and doesn't care how the patient feels or what the patient thinks. It is important for the patient to understand all aspects of their care and Dr. Slack thinks she's a god and doesn't care for the overall well-being of her patients.
