My GP referred me to Dr Emma Starritt at Sky Blue Dermatology. The reception staff asked if I had visited before, when I explained this is my first time referred, they said they were not taking any new patients, that they have no waiting list. I asked if they could suggest another clinic and they could not. I now have to find my own dermatologist and then my GP clinic will update my referral. Dr. McDonald is personable and knowledgeable, which is why I have continued attending his clinic. However, 9 out of 10 of my appointments are rescheduled, often at short notice, because he is away or unavailable. I completely understand that family emergencies and holidays happen, and I genuinely hope his mum is not in pain. The frustration lies in how rescheduling is handled. When I went for a recent skin cancer check the doctor asked me if I had any concerns to check, I mentioned a skin issue around my foot. She asked me if it was skin cancer related as that is what I was there for. I said I don't think so. (but I am not the specialist) She did not check my hands / feet or nails. From previous experiences with other dermatologists, I have always been thoroughly checked from head to toe.
I have been seeing Emma for years and she is professional and caring. I highly recommend SkyBlue & Emma.
I rang to make an appointment with one of the doctors as I have a worrying sore on my nose and was told that no doctors were available till December 2024. I was asked if I had seen the doctor before and I replied yes as I have had procedures at the clinic before but was dismissed with no further dialogue. This was so disappointing as I already have my referral.
