Madison Marina One of the few marinas on Lake Mendota. They have an adequate supply stock and a lot of new and used boats. Their sales staff is friendly and reasonably knowledgeable.

skipper bud's is not trustworthy We stored our boat with Skipper buds for about a year and a half. We used their dry stack service. It is way overpriced for the service that they offer. You spend over 3000 per year. Although you would think you would then receive optimal service, this is not the case. According to them, if you call 2 hours in advance, your boat will be in the water. This rarely happened. Often times the bouys were on the wrong side of the boat, and the boat would get scratched from banging into the docks. Th... read more

We recently purchased a boat (through a private party) that was located at Skipper Buds in Madison. Brandon and his crew were extremely helpful trying to load the boat even though we weren’t their customer. I would definitely recommend them. They were professional and quite accommodating. Thank you Brandon and crew!

I absolutely do not recommend anyone going to the service center for boat motor repairs. I've taken my boat to them on two different occasions and almost 1800 later I picked my boat up yesterday and it still running like it did the first time I dropped it off. crazy how you guys take people's money and not fix the problem. absolutely worthless !!!!!!!!!

Rented a boat today. Despite statewide mask mandate and “masks required” sign on door, neither staffer indoors was wearing a mask. Guy doing paperwork - no mask in sight, no effort to mask when we came in. Woman at counter eventually put on a mask before she threw the paperwork and pen at us (she was a snot to us at each interaction - should not be in a customer facing role.)

This may be one of the most poorly run businesses I have ever dealt with. I've had two experiences with their customer service and both have been absolutely terrible. The first time I tried to rent a pontoon boat the weather looked bad so I called 2 hours prior and was encouraged to cancel or reschedule. I chose to cancel. Of course, the weather changed and it was beautiful at the time of my rental so I called to see if we could still go. No one answered. I called again 30 minutes later, again, no answer. We rented a pontoon boat today and were given brief instructions on how to drive and where to go. During the trip, a big wave hit our boat head-on and dented the very thin sheet metal of the front door. Upon returning the boat, Skipper Bud's told us that this has happened to two other boats this season and that we would have to pay for the damage because we should have "known" that we needed to go faster into the wave. Follow up on my review. I just received basically a threatening VM from Scott, the sales manager in Madison. After he rudely told me that there’s nothing more he can do and he didn’t want to continue the conversation I hung up. He called back with this. The free winterizing was a consolation for their horrible service and lack of responsiveness. We’ve been waiting three months for a basic accessory and getting nothing but excuses and the run around.
