In early July 2014 I moved into skips. I had had five months of sobriety that ended in a relapse prior to arriving to Portland. From the voice of others I knew skips was the place I needed to be in order to get well. Over the last ten months I have not only been able to stay sober, but I have been taught what will keep me sober. Also taught, shown by example and suggested how to live as a functional member of society. From being honest with others,to cleaning up after myself, eating right or cleaning up wreckage of my past. ... read more

Joe, the owner, is sincere and passionate about helping other alcoholics and addicts and their families, in recovery find SOLUTIONS. He is a direct, no B.S. guy with clear passion for moving forward and helping, even if it means sending folks to other recovery resources outside of his own. Joe is friggin awesome. I highly recommend any family struggling with addiction to get in touch with him. Seriously, if you're looking for a solution, get in touch today, he answers the phone!

I came to Skip Murphy’s on August 4, 2014 following several attempts at treatment over the course of nearly four years. Skip Murphy’s gave me a new start, and options that I had not had previously. Also, I have been able to make a lot of caring and supportive friendships. I was able to finally get my life back on track at Skip’s: I now have a good job, and I... read more

I think Mahatma Gandhi said it best when he so elegantly proclaimed "Though my path was once muddled, it was you, Skip Murphy, who saw me fit to be your throne. You became the inner mounting flame that guided my soul through the otherwise dark corners of tomorrow." If I learned anything in grade school, it's that disagreeing with Gandhi is wrong on a whole lot of levels.

What can I say? Skip Murphy's has been exactly what I needed when I needed it. Here I was provided with the guidance and tools necessary to begin me upon my journey of recovery. Immediately upon admittance, I had a good vibe about this place. The staff and clients were friendly, courteous, and clearly had something working in their lives that I needed. I was shown around Portland and made to feel right at home. I was finally surrounded by people who genuinely cared about me and had a solution that they were more than eager t... read more
