I have been here many times and the employees are fantastic. They are caring and hard working. From my first experience 26 years ago to my most recent, everything about this place has been fantastic except for one thing. That thing is getting into this place. "I am writing this because my experiences at Memorial Hospital (and Taylorville Memorial) have been nothing short of traumatizing. When I arrived after being poisoned and assaulted, I was sent away without receiving the necessary treatment. I was told recently that Memorial would treat me better, but that has been a total lie. I went to Springfield Memorial Hospital’s ER with severe abdominal pain and spent over six hours sitting in the waiting room in agony. During that time, the lobby emptied and filled back up again, yet I was never called. When I finally reached my breaking point and went to the desk in tears, I was told I was still 6th in line. I asked how that was possible when nearly everyone who had been there before me had already been seen and countless people who arrived after me had gone back first. My daughter is currently here in the ICU. She has been in serious condition on a ventilator. The folks in ICU are very good and I would rate them at five stars on this particular floor. However, the security team and the method of processing visitors into the hospital is a disaster. You are required to have a visitor sticker, which does not stick well after having it on your shirt for 8 to 12 hours, and we were told that we needed to create a password?
