Beautiful park, plenty of benches, BBQ areas and undercover picnic spots. Lots and lots of walking trails and hikes with varying intensity, close enough to the city so it's not completely nature like, can hear planes and traffic from Brisbane city, but it's still nice if you don't have the time to make it out to the hinterlands. Recommend to bring some wipes if you're planning to use benches and tables as they can be pretty dirty.
Simson Falls picnic ground is one of the best I've ever seen, it's so natural and green everywhere, and there's a shallow river nearby that kids would love. It's close to Brisbane CBD, well-kept, and has BBQ tables and clean restrooms. We visited there during the Easter holidays, the parking was a bit challenging. If you are new to the place or don't know about the surroundings, keep the offline map with you, there's no mobile coverage or internet in this place.
