REBUFF NUTS I have had Rick work on my cars and many friends over the years. He is the best diagnostician on car problem I have ever met. I personally recommend him to anyone who needs professional automotive service. People have no idea what is wrong with their car when brought to the mechanic who spends hours or troubleshooting to find a bad plug. Why if it is so easy then diagnose and repair your car yourself. Some people on this blog seem to want something for nothing. I want superb service and am willing to pay for it. ... read more
Great mechanic. Mr. Simms is a great person to do business with. His knowledge of the field is immense and in the rare circumstance that he does not have the skill to do the job, he will tell you straight out. My entire family has been using his services for many years now.
joe people must be crazy to go here, got a friend who had battery problems went to simms, paid them 200dollars for a battery and they charged another 195 to install, diagnose, that is bull, advance will install a battery for free if you buy it off of them. now that is taking advantage of people. just plain ripping people off. if he was up to date on his certifactions as he says tim b car he should be able to diagnoise with out big equipment at least to get running to put on the big equipment. i have worked on cars all my lif... read more
Worst place I seen My worst experience in 15 years. Rude, changing prices by the day. That guy needs a psychiatrist. Complained that he "did not enjoy this job" - sure, I am paying him for having fun. The car had a problem talking to a state inspection station - wiring or something. He requested $90 for diagnostics. Another day he called and said that he did not find a problem yet, therefore needs another $90 - still for the same diagnostics! Finally, he charged me $90 for a connector that probably cost $10, plus 2hrs @ $90/... read more
Thourough and Honest Friendly and honest, family run automotive shop. Unfortunately, we have had cause to use their services alot this year and they have been consistently wonderful. Each time I have brought a car in they have handled the diagnostics and repair in a timely manner, keeping me updated by phone, and providing a full explanation of everything they needed to do. Rick Simms, the owner, makes a point of personally speaking to you regarding the problems with your car and what he would and would not advise doing. The... read more
Corolla Kid I had a 1974 Toyota Corolla that I raced a black Ford pick-up truck with a 302 V 8. I beat the Ford , but blew up the pennon gear soon after. What would you recommend to best way to fix it. Please feel free to e-mail me your answer. You come highly recommend by my friends. Katy TX
Don't use for electrical problems... I took my car in with an intermittant electrical problem. The darn thing would quit and I would have to wait for a few minutes and then it would start & run normally again. No check engine light, no warning - Frustrating. I have to agree that the Sims are a wonderful couple. Rick takes great pains to explain everything... but in the end I spent $800 and still had a car that had the same problem. He rewired the distrubutor harness and told me I needed a new fuel pump. After that he said he... read more
Response to Tim B.'s review I am Rick Simms, the owner of Simms Automotive, and would like to respond Timâs review of my shop. There are a few details he fails to mention. 1. Tim's vehicle would not malfunction long enough in order to hook up instruments and perform a diagnosis. 2. This information was reported to Tim that we would not be able to perform a pinpoint diagnosis. 3. It was noted the fuel pump was noisy and could possibly cause his complaint. He was told that the fuel pump was not submitted as an absolute fix. ... read more
