At a time when my depressed 12 year old son wouldn't talk to anyone, something about Hilary won him over. With her friendly, patient and understanding demeanor, she was able to break the ice with him and get him to open up. He liked when she validated his feelings and gave him advice on how to go forward. I especially liked when she would gently nudge him to open up about feelings instead of letting him continue to shove them down.
