However with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront declined. The only activity was the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom. Beginning in 1978 the waterfront had a rebirth. The village trustees purchased the land and opened it up to fishing, and a launch was put into place. Love eating at the silo – My family travels to the Silo several times a year. My kids love the kids meals they feature and have tried and loved everyone of them. My favorite is ah everything I have tried it all. You have to ck this place out. And I dont want to forget about the cool new caboose that carries a huge variety of ice cream. And the staff is awesome always willing to please.
We loved The Silo. We found it after we went on the Jet boat ride. The food was great and prices good. The people were wonderful. Eating dinner looking out over the river was a bonus. I would recommend the silo resturant to all families.
The Best View in WNY!!! Great Food and LOTS of fun! – This place has an incredible view and is an architecural wonder. This restaurant is a converted coal silo that filled steam ships that went to Toronto sitting on the banks of the Niagara River. Their menu is very diverse with the best burgers around and a great signature sandwich called the Silo Haystack. Highly recommended!!
"FAST FOOD WITH A FINE VIEW" – WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO THE WHIRLPOOL JETBOAT EXCURSION WHEN WE DISCOVERED THE STRIKINGLY UNIQUE ARCHETECTURE OF THE SILO FROM THE WATER. THE BOAT GUIDE HIGHLY RECCOMENDED THE FOOD AND WE CHECKED IT OUT. IT WAS GREAT FOOD AND IS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE OUT FROM BUFFALO AS MUCH AS THE JETBOAT RIDE WAS!
