About this business

Run by the Sri Chinmoy Center, this pretty little restaurant adheres to the spiritual teachings of Sri Chinmoy, an Indian guru. Here you will find a peaceful oasis and good vegetarian food. Located in the heart of the University District, Silence-Heart-Nest features an international menu, but excels in its Indian dishes and chutneys. Waitresses wear traditional saris and soft Indian music plays in the background. After satisfying your appetite, you can delve deeper into the spiritual world by visiting the Journey's Dawn book... read more

Expensive with poor service... – I've been to LSD four times. It's close to a friend's work so I'd go there afterwards. The food is *excellent*. I've been really pleased with everything I've had. The french toast is the best I've ever had, and I love the chicken sandwich with the spinach salad. Yum! However, the service is scant and slow. The tables are sometimes dirty. It's also a poor value - they last time I went they charged me $1.50 for a side of syrup! I swore I'd never go back. (This after waiting 30+ minutes for my f... read more

A beautiful spot – Fremont's gain is the U-District's loss. This little gem of a restaurant features outstanding vegetarian and vegan food at reasonable prices, all served in a bright, colorful, tranquil setting. We had a pumpkin coconut curry that was out of this world. My eleven-month-old daughter found the place engaging and relaxing. We enjoyed the service, the art, and the sense of peace that pervaded the place. We'll follow them to Fremont.

This joint fits right in with Fremont's funky, eclectic vibe. – In Short Almost everything is organic here and very earthy. From Birkenstocks to baseball caps to babies in strollers, all types are welcome and served by a very hip staff. Breakfast is served until 4pm: Most popular choices are the blueberry buckwheat pancakes and the Texas sized portion of black beans, salsa and cornbread with eggs. For lunch, consider the sweet potato sandwich layered with smoked mozzarella, artichoke hearts and basil oil. Fresh ravioli and a... read more

great food, outstanding coffee – Great food for breakfast, with friendly service, and the Caffe Vita coffee they serve is damned good! It's the most coffee I've drunk at one sitting----over a day's allotment! It was enough to send me over to Caffe Vita's closest store. The food at Longshoreman's Daughter is really good, in healthy portions, and the ambience is like original Fremont: welcoming funky.

Mediocre at best – The service here was quite possibly the worst I've ever received in Seattle. Our waitress made it clear that we were an annoyance to her. She was slow, rude, and disdainful of our polite requests for things like a clean napkin (after I used mine to clean the sticky goo that was on the table when we were seated). The food was blah. My french toast was burnt and my husband's Texas eggs were basically a plate of beans with some eggs on top. We will never, ever go back!

Pleasant Surprise – My girlfriend pushed me into eating here, because she thought it looked interesting. I went in expecting little, but left a fan of this restaurant. It's a very neat, clean, tranquil environment for a meal. The server was extremely genuine and nice, and the food selection was interesting. We tried several different dishes, as it's a little out of our way and we don't come to the area that often, and all of them were great. This is a true gem of a restaurant tucked away along University Avenue. It's worth m... read more

yummy, fast breakfast – not sure why people only go to the hot breakfast spots on the weekend - of course they are going to be packed with a long wait. i went here on a weekday and it was heaven. great, fast food. nice service. the freshest o.j. i've ever had. i'd go back in a sec.

our favorite breakfast spot! – We go to LSD almost every weekend - why? Because the food is great - it's fast - we almost always have a great server and we get out of there without spending a butt load of money of breakfast. There is a great mix of people there - from families to those with the obvious hangover. It reminds me of a little hole in the wall you might find in Cambridge MA.

Incredible – Amazing, tasty, healthy food. Resonably priced and the portions are generous. I love this place. Vegetarian with vegan options. I keep returning.
