Best bike shop in town – I've bought 2 bikes, 1 pair of shoes and some other odds and ends there and I think they're awesome. I could have got some of the stuff cheaper on the web but the service more than made up for it. And, be sure to check out their fitter. She's GREAT! The selection is pretty good for NYC and it's not crammed full of merchandise like some other shops.

Really good shop – I've been to a lot of bike shops, and I don't think I've ever found one that really welcomed people with just excellent customer service. After a while, I realised that it's just not how people work who get jobs at bike shops. To expect otherwise is to seek frustration. That being said, I have found Sids to be extremely helpful, quite fair on prices, speedy as all get out on doing work, and to provide excellent service. I have purchased 3 bikes there. Full disclosure: i bought two custom Independent Fabric... read more

Non Existent Customer Service – This place couldn't care less about service or their lack of it. There are too many other good bike stores in NYC to waste your time or money at this one.

The Cliche Elitist Bike Shop – I went in the other day to buy a computer and was treated like I was an idiot because I didn't know the first thing about them. I guess that's what they consider good customer service....that's what I consider an a-hole.

Just not helpful AT ALL – I rode my bike to work last week and forgot to bring my chain and lock. Since my work is right next to sid's where i have bought over 300 dollars worth of gear in only the last month, I thought I could tell them my dillema and ask if I could keep my bike there for the day since i had nowhere else to take it and no way of locking it up. Well, the cliche bike dude #1 sort of guffawed under his breath and goes to his boss, "Tell him we SELL locks and chains..." Then the boss looks at me and goes (in a ... read more

Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale – Besides boasting the biggest choice in racing frames in the city, this Midtown East shop fits women's bikes, too.

service and back up terrible – i bought a road bike there and the carbon forks fractured after 6 months. The staff could not have been more unhelpful from telling me the forks were no longer made for the bike to not calling the manufacturer after promising to do so. After many visists it turned out the manufacturer refused to honor the warranty and the shop charged full price for all labour and parts. The crazy thing was i was about to buy another bike there. After the attitude of the staff - no more.

No customer loyalty. They will nickel and dime you. – I live in the Kips Bay area so this bike shop used to be a regular place for me to buy components. In fact I bought a helmet here last summer. Today I went in with my bike to ask if I could borrow a tool chain link remover on the spot to replace a chain that I brought with me, but I was told the tool was not for borrowing, only selling. I have one already but it's in storage. Why would they want me to buy another one just to make a small profit? For a repeat customer no l... read more

Move too slow on things – I've had good and bad experiences at Sid's. Chris is great, and the dude who built my back wheel did an awesome job. But on the flip side. It took over a month to get a part ordered summer 2005. I came in for something fairly small, mounting hardware for my rear shock. Someone dropped the ball for 2 weeks straight. Not only that, they weren't truthful with me. They kept telling me everything was fine, but they still hadn't even called into the manufacturer to get the part ordered. Now this time (fal... read more
