I guess the economy must be finally getting the best of this place. I worked there for a short time as a salesman. The place is extremely slow. I am talking maybe 15 customers a day slow. Split that up with 3 salespersons and nobody can make a living there. So it figures that most of the salespeople there are on Social Security! The owner wont stock anything so the customer have to wait 6 weeks for the same thing they could buy elsewhere for a third of the price! The 3 P's...Professional, Pleasant, & Prompt – I shopped at least 5 places in the Portland area before settling on Shleifer. Great Experience with a local company – We had a great experience at Shleifer Furniture. We found the people at Shleifer to be very helpful and patient. I'll admit that I am picky but had no trouble finding the perfect fabric for our new sofa, they had a great selection. They had what we were looking for at a reasonable price. Good furniture, horrible delivery – Shleifers has helpful in store customer service and reasonable prices for average quality furniture--which seems to be hard to find in portland. I purchased a bed as I'm new in town and had it delivered. On the day of delivery everything went well, but one of the delivery guys obviously stole my phone. Great Place – Bought a new set of furniture recently and the quality was great. I special ordered a few pieces that they estimated would take 4-6 weeks, it came in 6 or 7 and the wait was well worth it. I had a damaged nightstand that you could tell came from the factory that way and they had it taken care of very quickly. Best furniture store in Portland. – We shopped at several local furniture stores and found this one to be the best in town. They gave us the best services, spent more time with us and answered all our questions to help us make the best choices. We ended up purchasing a leather sofa and 3 chairs. The chairs were a special order and one of them was no longer being made by the manufacturer. The owner called us and made arrangements around our schedule to select an alternate chair. Wonderful Experience – I have to disagree with the previous editorial. We went to Shleifer Furniture for the first time after hearing an ad on the radio. I was pleasantly suprised at the selection...and the prices!! After selecting my style there was a whole wall of fabrics for me to choose from and my salesperson couldn't have been more helpful or knowledgable. I was quoted 6-8 weeks for my couch and it came in only 4!!!! Overall, I would have to say that I'll be shopping at Shleifer Furniture for all my rooms in the future... read more
BUYER BEWARE THE FINE PRINT!!! – I recently placed a special order for a chair and was told by the salesperson that it would take 5-7 days to arrive. I phoned back a week later to check on the order only to be told that it would be another MONTH before it arrived. When I explained this is not what I was told the only response from them was 'you signed the paper saying no refunds'.
