Relaxed and Refreshed – I had a Micro Facial at Shizuka NY and I totally enjoyed it. I have really oily skin and I get nervous about having facials but they really customized it to my skin. The technician asked a lot of questions to make sure that it was the right one for me. When she said my face was in need of hydrating, I got concerned, but she was totally dead on right. My face hasn't felt or looked this good in a long time. And usually at spas when they say it takes 50 minutes, they usually include the time it takes for... read more

Sheer incompetence – Seriously ladies, spend your money elsewhere. I am a frequent spa-goer (Ohm Spa and Thai privilege among my favorites), and I had a miserable experience at this spa. First, I was made to wait for 45 minutes for the facialist to retrieve me from the waiting area for my 5:30 appointment. I had dinner plans for the evening which I was getting late for, so when I asked to reschedule, the receptionist kept insisting "she'll be right out". Everyone seemed thoroughly incompetent -- once my facialist received me... read more

Great Micro-Facial experience! – I am a repeat client at Shizuka and am very happy with my recent Micro-Facial. Lisa was my facialist and she was very sweet, precise and not product pushy at all. My extractions didn't even hurt (which you understand if they do since they're not supposed to be pleasant) and she used this amazing pumpkin enzyme mask on my face! The massage was great too. I left without worrying about hailing a cab home because my skin was not red and bruised at all...I took the subway..ha. I go to different sp... read more

Perfect for the Facial Beginner! – At Shizuka New York, I finally let someone else take charge of my skincare. I'd had a horrible experience years ago with my first facial at a different spa, where I'd left with burning, raw-feeling skin that took hours to calm down. After that I determined I would never get another facial - until I turned thirty and decided maybe it was time to rethink that decision. My clinician at Shizuka's was super-considerate, paying attention to what I'd written on my intake form and asking me about m... read more

Very soothing facial, but... – I had a signature micro-facial with Shizuka about a week ago... First of all, the spa is beautiful. Very nice, relaxing environment, and the orange/strawberry-infused water is soooo good! The facial was nice... I have very sensitive skin and Shizuka used very mild products that did not irritate it at all. The massage incorporated in was also nice, and it was overall, one of the most pleasant facials I have ever had. Shizuka was extremely knowledgeable about the product line and offered a great ... read more

Friendly staff – I've been to Shizuka for both her micro facial and hair removal. Shizuka was very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. The facial was very relaxing and included an arm/hand massage and foot/leg massage. The only comment I have is that there were less extractions than other places I've been to.

Try it for yourself – I booked an appt during a trip to NY after reading the reviews. Price is standard & treatment good, but not "the best". Since it was my vacation, I hoped for a more spa like experience. Unfortunately, I was disappointed w/; the lack of luxuries & the ambiance, thin walls that let you hear noise from next door, and no pampering from staff. This is a good place to go if those things don't matter. I also wasn't asked about my preference for esthetician. This was at the old location

Business response:

We welcome you to visit our new location at 7 W 51st Street, near Rockefeller Center, where we have been for the past year and a half. The larger space here allows for more amenities and a more relaxing experience than at the previous location.

Best Spa in an over-crowded spa city – The quality of service at Shizuka is phenomenal - the treatments are gentle, but really effective. The spa is lovely - very pretty, serene - you relax just by walking in. Shizuka's Micro Facial is the best facial i've ever had -- and i've gone EVERYWHERE in this city! I emerged with cleansed pores, no blotchiness, no redness, no breakouts two days later. Her treatments are longer than most and her staff is really attentive and warm. I've been several times and experienced both Shizuka a... read more

Won't go anywhere else – So price is a little steep but I am willing to pay the premium for the comfort of knowing nothing will go wrong. I've actually never had Shizuka herself but all her staffers are well-trained and offer the utmost care when treating you. I've tried a bunch of so-called high-end spas around the city but nobody has been able to offer quality customer service like Shizuka Salon does. Their new space is bigger and nicer than their old place.

Business response:

I really appreciated to read this very nice review. unfortunately i couldn't understand why she chose "Not Recommended" in Overall Raing. is it price issue? i would like to know. thank you.
