12k dollar emtb last made three years ago. Shimano and darfon managed to discontinue the battery and charger. They were kind enough to advise they had them but for warranty only. I can see why 90% of bike manufacturers have switched to Bosch and sram. Customers would love to purchase product that has a shelf life of more that 3 years. Customer service could care less the shelf life of their products/length of time to discontinue vital parts. Clunky warranty experience. Despite a very common fault visible by camera, I had to mail in the part costing $20 before shimano would approve the claim. They promised a 2-3 day turnaround. Shipping the part left my bike inoperable. Upon approving the claim, Shimano then dropped the bomb that the part was out of stock. It took me ringing the office for Shimano to realize there was an identical part with a different part number in stock. I missed two weeks of riding. I regret not paying the $80 to buy the part myself.
I bought a Shimano Curado 301E ($300) less than 10 years ago. A bearing corroded in it and I ordered a new one that shipped from here in Irvine. I have reached out three times now. The first time I contacted was through email and they said they would ship in a few business days. The second time I called a week after the email , they said they would get it sorted and they even got a supervisor involved to ensure I would get my bearing.
