Talked to an "agent" for weeks prior to viewing an apartment as they would not let me view the apartment until 60 days before the unit was available (which is fine). I saw the unit as soon as possible and told the agent I wanted to put the first months rent down immediately. They took a couple hours to send me the application and I filled it out and paid the fee.
