Everything went great for my blood donation up until the person drawing my blood coughed right onto my arm where the needle was without covering their mouth. Now I woke up with the flu…
I donated double red blood cells (not whole blood). This took around 2 hours. They had a mini tv with Netflix right in front of me. I watched Paddington two and had snacks. I ended up a little tired but no lightheadedness or anything that I have had in the past when I donated whole blood. I got a free long-sleeved t-shirt. They need new stress balls! Someone should donate some!
My whole family comes in to donate as often as possible (well...3 of us donate. The youngest just comes for the snacks, until he's old enough...), and the staff here is always so great with us. They take good care of people who have trouble with donating, and are super friendly. We especially love Shawanna (Not sure how to spell it since I've never seen it written), she never misses! She's the only one allowed to stick my eldest with the rolling veins.
