Dr. Matthew Sheffer and his staff are amazing! At the consultation, Dr. Sheffer explained the procedure options for my tooth extraction, including possible cost, depending on circumstances. On the day of the surgery, everything went quickly, and as easy as could be expected (I had opted for the local). I got all of teeth pulled (18 i think) for dentures. 1) I was told I would be out completely, was not because they mixed info up. 2) I have had teeth pulled since I was a teenager and every dentist has at least offered numbing gel. He came in and "ok lets get going" Needle right away. Had me bawling my eyes out for 5 minutes after. No one tried to comfort me. They all left the room. 3) A couple teeth I could feel he numbed again. But at the end there were about 3 teeth that I could slightly feel. I wiggled and whined enough ... read more
Took out a broken tooth. Very fast and efficient. Much appreciated for his help!
Will never go back. Did not numb me appropriately and pulled the tooth anyways then scraped the infection out. Was not nice about it or apologize for the pain I was in. I left in tears. Will never go back!
Dr. Sheffer is tough, professional, and gets in there and gets the job done. Very good with local pain blocking injections. Only rough part is the wait to get in to see him. Put yourself on their "call" list and staff will possibly call you for an earlier appointment if there's a cancellation. Very happy with him and wouldn't consider going elsewhere for complex dental procedures!
Dr. Shaffer and staff are wonderful. They were able to schedule my wisdom teeth extraction one week in advance because I had a very short window of time to have the surgery and recover before the start of college classes. And when issues with my Insurance came up (on the end of the insurance company) the staff was incredibly patient and helped me resolve the issue with patients. Definitely would recommend Dr. Shaffer at Joplin Oral Surgery!

Extremely disappointed in the care my son received having two teeth removed. The staff was rude to my son, did not give him proper pain medication. I would NEVER recommend this man to anyone.
My dentist had recommended for years that i should get a back tooth that had broken & had decay under a crown removed. Dr. Sheffer was excellent in calming my fears. The staff was remarkable in taking my calls post surgery because I was worried. He seen me 2 additional times to calm my fear. 5?
