I researched and met with Dr. Kevin Shea on Oct 26, 2022. We reviewed my MRI and we agreed PT, both arms, would be tried for 6 weeks. The doctor and I met again. My mobility increased significantly and we decided to opt for 4 more weeks of PT. I'm functioning at 85%-90% of my physical capabilities before my injuries. I will continue with home exercises to pursue even greater functionality. I was very pleased with Dr. Shea's approach to wellness and I would highly recommend him.
From my first visit - through my multiple physical therapy , MRI , and multiple visits ! He was very clear on his medical knowledge in guiding me in the right direction! Very confident on what care I have had , and what care as I need in the future ! Very organized group of Drs. And nurses and students at UConn Musculoskeletal Institute ! Would highly recommend this Doctor and Hospital !
Dr. Shea and his team got me through my recent shoulder replacement surgery and recovery. His excellent skill level and knowledge made me feel hopeful for complete success. I am back to almost 100% after 6 months and expect continued improvement. Dr. Shea made it possible for me to continue with my independent life style and to be pain free. Thank you Dr. Shea!
I had a torn rotator cuff repaired by Dr. Shea. Everything was professionally handled and with expertise. I was completely satisfied and highly recommend!
I would have thought Dr. Shea would have been a bit more professional and understanding, but he was far from compassionate. His bedside manner is awful, my shoulder is worse then it was before surgery. Staff was kind, he was not. He's judgmental and at times just plain nasty. I rarely write negative reviews of Doctors or anything for that matter as I think it's not a nice thing to do, but in this case I think I'm well justified in helping to save others from this mediocre ( at best) MD. Both medically and psychologically. So... read more
My experience with this doctor was by far the worst out of all the doctors I've been to. I would not recommend him to anyone. If you are looking for a professional, good bedside manner and kind doctor, this isn't your guy. I left feeling like I wasted his time and he humiliated me in front of student doctors. He made fun of me because I was nervous about the sound my knee was making, given my family history of joint problems/knee replacements.
Dr. Shea replaced both my shoulders with Total Shoulders 4 mos. apart in 2020. He did a great job and with my new hardware, my pain is gone and my shoulders are in good shape. I don't even know I have artificial joints. I would recommend Dr. Shea to anyone considering shoulder replacement surgery!!
I came to Dr. Shea after a bad bicycle accident. I had a broken proximal humerus. I am an active middle age woman. I made it clear to him my number one priority was to recover and get back to golf. He thought long and hard about my case. He told me that multiple times. Most of the time this injury can heal without surgery. Mine could not. He did an incredible job with the surgery. He is a skilled confident surgeon. I am happy to report after a few months of rehab I am now back golfing. I think he actually might have improved... read more
I had rotator cuff and torn bicep surgery on my left shoulder on 1-20-20. He made it very clear that the rehab could be 6 months or longer. I'm 6 months and 1 week into the surgery and I could not be more pleased with his surgical skills and professionism of the office staff. I'm probably 90% of a complete recovery at 65 years old. Biking and going to the gym 7 days a week and playing golf again. The combination of a great surgeon and dedicated rehab has clearly provided a great recovery. I would recommend him to anyone in n... read more
