I have a friend who recently experienced a mental health crisis. In October 2024 my friend paid $11,000+ earnest money on a new build in Broken Arrow, Ok area. Approximately 3 days after, they were admitted to a mental health facility for 30 days. Relatives were given guardianship and reached out to Shaw Homes to explain the situation, asking that under the circumstances the money be given back. I highly recommend you NOT choose this company to do business with. Choose anyone OTHER than Shaw Homes. Here's why: A friend put down a sizeable amount of money (escrow) when she decided to purchase a house from Shaw last fall. Shortly thereafter, she had a medical emergency, and has been hospitalized with severe illness since. She's begged Shaw to return her money...and they refuse to do so. It's a LOT of money, and she can't afford to lose it. Her medical bills are probably going to cause her to have to file bankruptcy...... read more

Although Shaw builds decent homes, they have shady business practices. Our HOA in a Shaw neighborhood has increased by $300 over the last 3 years, and Shaw still controls our HOA. Our covenant reads that the HOA will be turned over after construction is finished or enough houses have been turned over. Seems pretty standard until you find out that Shaw and their directors own enough houses in the neighborhood to maintain control of the HOA until they don’t want it anymore. Bree Chavez was stellar! Knowledgeable and helpful at every step. Paula Lynn was Amazing and supportive throughout the entire process! The superintendent was not very good and the support after construction was less than adequate. Quality of construction leaves a lot to desire. Do your due diligence.

Terrible bulld quality, our entire neighborhood has had the same issues in every home and Shaw will not take responsibility. Their sales person was dishonest about HOA fees. They tried to gaslight me about how the floorplan was supposed to be and luckily I'm a draftsman and know how to read blue prints or else they would have screwed us out of our flex room. They kept telling us that their inside inspectors use higher specs so we didn't need an outside inspector. Buyer beware! If you do go with Shaw, HIRE YOUR OWN INSPECTOR ... read more
