My mother was a patient of Dr. Lan. When she was very ill and she wanted to switch to a south facing apartment which requires her primary doctor's approval. Dr. Lan rejected my mother's request and insulted her by saying "You Chinese old people always want to take advantage of others". My mom was very upset and left Dr. Lan. Another doctor in OHSU helped my mother switched to a south facing apartment. A doctor without love and compassion is not worth to stay with.
Dr Lan is amazing and so compassionate. He really sees me as a person and listens to me when I bring up concerns about my health. In the past I have had doctors treat me like a dollar sign rather than a human being. Things that were dismissed by physicians in the past were of concern to him and ultimately led me to find relief. If you are part of the LGBTQ community then you need to go to him. He sees us for who we are.
He has been my primary care doctor since I relocated to Portland in May 2016. Very knowlegeable, don't feel rushed, always asking if there any other questions or issues. wiswitched to him
Dr. Lan is caring and compassionate provider for the LGBTQ community.
Dr. Lan saved my wife's life--very literally--several years ago. He was a new doctor for us then, and we plan to grow old with this amazing doctor taking care of us. He takes the time to explain what is going on in our bodies, and draws diagrams that are clear to understand. Thank God for Dr. Lan!
