Great Indian food as a local option near Southie – We really like the food at this restaurant (although probably prefer the Indian food at Punjab (Arlington) or India Quality (Kenmore Square). But this is a fantastic local option for us. We always get take-out and the food is ready quickly. Watch out for delivery, however. We only tried to have the food delivered once and it took almost 2 hours to get here! We now always go to pick up the food ourselves. But it's worth it.
Fresh, affordable Indian fare has a home in Dorchester. – In Short In promising a combination of classic and modern Indian cuisine, Shanti (Sanskrit for "peace") delivers a lengthy menu of the familiar and the unfamiliar. Highlights include a bargain lunch buffet, the contents of which change daily, and tender Tandoori specials that are marinated for 12 hours before being slow-cooked in the oven. As with any solid Indian restaurant, Shanti offers patrons to fine-tune their selections depending on how much heat they can take.
Great food, but not opened the week of 8/13. – I'm not attempting to say that a restaurant is exempt from vacation, but their restaurant should be available all year. I attempted to purchase dinner at Shanti for this evening and learned that they went on vacation. (???) Good thing I called first. I'm disappointed because I have to go elsewhere, but business must be good.
another great rest. in dorchester – lately dorchester been in the news a lots and its not for its crime but for the all the great new restaurants oppening up in dorchester like Ashmont grill, D bar, 224, blarney stone and more. shanti one of the best indian rest. for food. if you havent been to Shanti you missing out.
Indian food in the DOT – My husband and I have been living in the area for over a year and we just discovered this hidden jem of a restaurant! OH MY GOSH! Shanti is wonderful! I was never an Indian food eater and now I have to go to Shanti once a month to get my fix. Our first time there we had take out and last night was our first time sitting down. Great Food but a little pricey – Recently I have started trying Indian food. Shanti has great ambiance and great food. I would definately recommend this restaurant.
I love the shanti – One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Unbelievable food and great service. Try the vegetable biryani. Good daily specials as well.
Diamond in the Rough – The restuarant seems to have transcended from the Back Bay into the middle of Dorchester from the incredible detailed facade as well as the great tasting, authentic Indian cuisine. The menu is extensive, except among the appitizers, and the waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable.
