I was distressed to find that my current prescription for my left eye specifically since I have macular degeneration is not as strong as my last year's prescription. I had my sunglasses done in Lufkin (less expensive) and the optician informed me of this. He said call her office. I did and the receptionist tried to talk me out of making an appointment. I saw my retina dr Dr. Rao and told her all this: she said you need to talk to Dr. Smith so I will try once more.
The last 2 years my eye exams have not been done by the Drs. The exam was done by the other workers in the office.... Dr. Birdsong did come in and look in the back of my eyes with the machine... but as far as having a doctor check your vision that hasn’t happened in two years. I find it very odd and I’m wondering if I’m really getting the right prescription in my glasses and contacts.
For the last few years I have always been impressed with the attention and service of your office. This past Friday (Oct 25), I was not. I arrived 5 minutes early to find the office empty with the exception of the Benchmark Optical gentleman. I was the first patient to arrive. No staff was there to take in patients until 8:10. As a result, as other patients arrived, I found myself last to the window since I had went to get coffee and was waiting for staff to arrive. Dr Smith, staff and facilities reflect the excellence that can be achieved with quality leadership demonstrated through excellent professional care, staff training and patient flow. I have been associated with medical professionals and facilities for many years and never have I seen a better standard of care and respect for patients. I had uveitis iritis several years ago. My glaucoma test yeilded scores over 40. Dr Shannon performed surgery on both eyes. This was probably back in the late 1980s. I have never had a high glaucoma test again. Thank you, Dr. Shannon
