Dr Shakir has been wonderful and caring, though we did have a bit of a rough start to things. But that said, what he did (try taking me off methotrexate) was in the end, a worthwhile investment in fully understanding my atypical (rheumatoid factor negative) form of arthritis (technically, Adult Onset Still's Disease, I'm told). I've been seeing the doc and his helpful staff for decades, starting in my 20s. He was one of the only rheumatologists that took mercy care insurance. I've been through tons of life since, new jobs, old jobs, bad insurance, good insurance, medical ups and downs. Long story short, he's a straight shooter and if you're looking to visit him to confirm a self-diagnosis, he's not the one.
