I'm traveling internationally and my debit card was eaten by an ATM. I contacted SFFCU and they promised immediate resolution. I was to have been sent a form in order to access my funds (thousands of dollars!) and never received it. I am stone broke and po'ed and I have no food in the house and no way to buy any. Talk about bad service. The worse thing is is that 3 different bankers promised resolution and made it sound incredibly easy. I literally have not a penny to my name and I'm very hungry.
This used to be a friendly, happy place with bankers that I knew personally and liked. However, it has changed dramatically, and not for the better. Now I get messages simply signed, "SF Fire Credit Union." They also don't question charges that are suspect-when it was good, I'd get an alert. Not anymore. Someone has hacked my account a number of times and they don't red flag it. I've had to put a freeze on my account for the fourth time. I'm traveling in Mexico and it's the only card I have currently (my American Express car... read more
i never asked for courtesy fees, and have asked multiple times to stop them, yet they have continued, this time for an apple charge of 99 cents. a $25 fee, on the same day as my direct deposit. wtf? they will charge you these fees without ever asking if you want them, and will refuse to stop. they are worse than any bank i have ever used.
Business response:
Hi Elizabeth. I'm sorry to hear that happened; I'll respond to your direct message to get some details and ask our contact center to look into what happened with that transaction and with your courtesy pay settings.
SF Fire CU allows over $1,000 in fraudulent charges, but declines account holder charges.
It’s okay. They need a downtown branch. Sucks going to Pac Heights every time I need to go to the bank.

Warning: Do not trust SFFCU with your money. They started out great (5 stars on Yelp) when I first signed up, but have been nothing but trouble for the past few years. (Current rating: 2 stars.) It's been 25 days since I've been able to access the funds in my checking account. This is because SFFCU mistakenly put a fraud alert on a transaction, when I purchased a laptop (from Apple — a reputable retailer). They keep failing to fully clear the fraud alert, even after 10 long ... Continue Reading
SFFCU is the complete credit union. Completely no customer service and completely incompetent. For two weeks we have been trying to send an international transfer. For two weeks we have been avoided. For two weeks we do not know where our money is. For two weeks SFFCU does not know where our money is. So far SFFCU has charged $60 to lose our money. In fact SFFCU use a third party to transfer internationally, and charge more than the third party to do so. SFFCU should use the money they save on staff training to purchase bett... read more
Horrible credit union! I applied for membership around May 7 then got an email finally on May 13th asking for documents. Submitted the required documents on the same day but since then I haven't received a response from the new accounts people. I followed up through chat and called twice. I was told the lady from the new accounts will call me shortly. Still haven't received a call from her. They're bogus. Not really sure what's going on. I wonder what's taking it forever to process the membership aoplication??It only shows t... read more
