Let’s start off by saying Señor Frijoles has been a regular local spot for us since the 80´s. By both land and sea we arrived on a regular basis. Rumors were floating around about new owners, dissatisfied employees, menú changing, remodels and updating. We decided to not listen to what we have heard and try it first hand. 14 of my friends and I had dinner here on Thursday evening. First let me say the drinks were great. However, the meals were a huge disappointment. The fajitas were terrible. The steak was over cooked and looked like jerky and not edible. The chicken was dry and chewy. The burritos were only so so with the exception of the pulled pork one which was good. In previous years we have always eaten here as a group once a month. However, since the new owners have taken over it is not good and is off our list of favorites.
Excellent atmosphere and service.
Food was good. Portions ample. No choice in paying 18% gratuity. Not certain if that’s an “island” thing or not, but would rather that be our choice. Because if that, will not be back.
I wish I read the other reviews before I eat here. My wife, daughter and I ate here. Our entrées were $70 and the restaurant added in $12 as a tip for themselves. I have no problem tipping well if the food is great and the service is good, but both departments were sorely lacking. The margaritas we ordered had tons of salt in the margarita itself. I would give this place zero stars.
