I had a great experience at Taiso/Self Defense Tacoma! The instructors Butch and Jennifer were very knowledgeable and welcoming. I did take the 4-hour class with 2 friends, but the instructors did a great job of mixing up pairings so you end up practicing with everyone in the class. I think this would be a good fit for a solo student as well. I feel more confident going about my daily business after the class, and feel much better equipped to avoid and/or get out of a bad situation now.
