About this business
We do most of our cookery with wood in our massive, 100-ton, brick and riverstone oven. In the "Before Time," we specialized in crusty, sourdough hearth breads, experimental charcuterie, wild desserts, like the infamous "Habanero Cheesecake," and all things tasty and wonderful but always shifting. Suberb. The best pizza in The Tri Cities Area, by far. Finally a California type pizza, full of taste, just the way you want it!! The only pizza I'll eat for the last 2 years.
We experienced this fabulous pizza for the first time 2 weeks ago and were very satisfied with the flavor of the sauce and toppings. The employees were friendly and made us feel comfortable with the ordering process which is quite a bit different from any other pizza place I've been to. We decided that when family and friends come to visit from out of state this will be the place we say "you have taste this pizza" and we'll take them there.
Just tried the pizza again and decided the quality is variable at best. Mellow Mushroom way better, as are others.
Great Pizza Great Atmosphere! – When you first walk into Scratch you're a bit overwhelmed. There are signs all over and it looks a little confusing but just stop at the counter to your right and place a sushi-type order. You get a list of all the types of pizza, choose your ingredients ( home made pepperoni!) and it's cooked for you. You get a 16.00 16inch ( I think) pizza. It's really delicious cheese. This is definitely the best bang for your buck in Johnson City. They offer lots of tasty items you don't find too many other places, and even those that don't venture out for different tasting items will enjoy at least a few items that they offer. The brick oven and rocks outdoor add a kind of flare otherwise absent in the city. So eat until your belly pops!
