This was a great spot to rest our head after spending the day at the National Park! It was simple, but got the job done!
I have no idea why this hotel has a high score. The hotel building is simply a 2-story motel quality. The room is very small. Only the lobby was remodeled recently, and the rooms look like they were built in the 80s. There is no centralized AC but a noisy window unit, which barely works. The front desk is friendly. To be fair, most hotels in Hilo look terrible. If you do not have to spend the night in Hilo, just go back to Kona.
The hotel incorporates plants between the rooms leaving a nice nature feel to the stay. The view from the rooms and the lobby of the ocean is lovely. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The facilities are well maintained: solid pool, nice workout area, and game area. I was concerned about noise from the nearby airport but it wasn't a problem at all.
This is a motel 6 at best, not a Hotel. Would not recommend to anyone. This should be a $70 a night room. Pictures are very deceiving. We checked in to the SCP about 30 minutes ago, and we’ve now checked into the Hilton down the street.
There are lots of good reviews here, but mine will not be. The only reason I chose this place was the good star rating. The ladies at the front were friendly enough and helpful at check in, but the rest was downhill. When opening the door I immediately noticed the room had not been serviced properly. The bed clothes were clean, and that was it. I had to go out and buy wipes and a broom to clean before we could settle in. That was strike 1.
