The Ward Family began funeral service in Dekalb and Henry counties in 1958 as a family owned company. The Ward Family sold Horis A. Ward Funeral Homes and Fairview Memorial Gardens to an international corporate entity in 1993, the Loewen Group. In 1999 the Loewen Group entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy and later emerged as the Alderwoods Group.
