She is the least professional and caring mental health provider I have ever encountered. Since she is independent she does not have a secretary to assist with booking. Therefore she does not send out appointment reminders (not that hard to do) and rarely returns missed phone calls. When I was going to be about 20 minutes late to a 60 minute appointment, she told me not to come in. I immediately called back to let her know actually I am going to come in for those 40 minutes. I went to Dr Schurman after seeing several other psychiatrists. She was kind, empathetic and insightful. I felt she really cared about me. my depression has gotten so much better, I am really grateful for her help.

I lost my job and Dr. S suggested I save money and stop seeing her, and instead get on a long waitlist for Denver Mental Health for group therapy instead. I was on different medications for anxiety/depression, and PTSD, and at three months of waiting to see a clinician at DMH, Dr. S refused to answer calls or return voicemails. I almost went to the ER for my withdrawal symptoms. Months later, she called to tell me she never called back because my credit card had expired and I owed her money.

I went to see Dr Schurman after being in treatment with another psychiatrist for close to 10 years. My experience with her has been markedly better. She is able to understand my issues in much greater depth, and has helped me address problems that had never been explored before. We also discuss my medication in detail, to be sure that I am obtaining maximum benefit. She is thoughtful, insightful, patient, and genuinely cares about me. I feel very fortunate to be working with her.
