Dr Schoonmaker saved my sons life – My 14 yr old son tried to kill himself 4 years ago. We had no idea he was at risk. Thankfully, the substance that he thought was poisonous, was not. We tried to find help, but the mental health providers were not able to see us on short notice. THANK GOD for Dr. Schoonmaker. His staff got us in immediately. The Best!!! He knows his stuff & genuinely cares – What more could you ask for? Let me tell you. We moved to Arizona and just recenlty returned after being gone 5 years. My husband and I were both patients of Dr. Schoonmaker before we left. We tried and tried to find a physician that just even came close to Dr. S. We would find a doctor and as soon as we got comfortable they were either trying to change prescriptions, change dosages, or discontinue one or all completely. He is absolutely amazing! – Dr. Schoonmaker is amazing. He is very professional, extremely Christian and does not only sympathize but can also empathize with his patients. He is 110% non-judgmental and never makes you feel to be "alone" or "crazy". I am on medication prescribed by him and he meets with me weekly to ensure that I am receiving the proper dosage, care, prescriptions. His staff is wonderful as well. A COMPLETE MANIAC – HAD ME ON 5 DIFFERENT MEDS: cYMBALTA, XNAX, WELBUTRIN, RESTORIL AND SEREQUEL. i WAS A WALKING ZOMBIE. dEVELOPED TARDIVE DYSKENSIA AND HAD NEAR FATAL BOUT OF PANCREATITIS FROM THE SEREQUEL. SCHOONMAKER IS BEING SUED ALONG WITH ASTRA ZENECA ON THE SEREQUEL THING. I MISSED 2 APPOINTMENTS IN 4 YEARS. AFTER MISSING THE LAST ONE HE WROTE ME A LETTER OF DISMISSAL AND PUT ME ON TWO WEEKS NOTICE OF TERMINATING HIS SERVICES. The perfect office for me – The Dr.'s staff is very accomodating. After calling (during an emotional crisis) to try to get in with a dr on my plan, Dr. Schoonmaker's staff was the only one to offer me an appointment with 48 hours instead of one month or more in the future. When it was my turn, he reviewed my very detailed and very long medical and psycological history, then spent more than an hour answering my questions. Best shrink in the world Keep Reading – Yes I have been a patient of Dr. Schoonmaker's for about 6 months now. I absolutely love the doctor. He is one of the only psychatrist in the houston area that actually cares about his patient's. He is one of the few that my husband and I have seen that actually takes the time to talk with you (not at you) and listen about what is going on.
