I had work done by Mike Schlereth on a Marlin 1895 that I was going to use in an Elk hunt in Wyoming. He extended the magazine tube, installed a large loop lever, added a custom recoil pad, and smoothed the trigger and action. The quality of his work is excellent, easily matching a gunsmith's in Idaho who specializes in doing these sorts of things on Marlins. And his charges are reasonable.
