We bought a house and moved in. A tag on the door sated that we need us to call this company, the lady on the phone (Susan) said that the gas tank is theirs and either they need it back or we have to sign a contract with them. Well, we were never told that the tank was rented by the previous owner so I asked them to give me sometime to talk to my realtor. Schagrin Gas is definitely the dirtbag company that earns the 1 star reviews. Of the 5 star reviews, they are made employees or PR shills. I was very fortunate NOT to sign the builders contract to use them, so after I closed (on my walk through, they filled with gas, demanded I pay prior to closing, then locked tank in front of me even after I assured them I would pay the office right after closing. I feel the same way, the delivery people are fine it is the office people that are NASTY!! I have them not by choice but builder choice. I use an alternate heating system all bc they would not come when we wanted "oh we cannot do that it goes by computer" so they lost out. They only come deliver 1 maybe 2 x per year. Everytime we get that bill we pay it to get the discount. well I have never not paid i have every receipt since day 1. Anyone who says that Schagrin Gas is great has to be in the family. The customer service representatives are shrill trolls. The gas delivery people and technicians have all been great. The women in the office horrid. The only reason that they have a profitable business is because they do contracts with builders where they continue to own the tank. When you buy a house from a production builder that has a contract with Schagrin you are screwed into using them. They have a scumbag business model and wouldn't survive without it... read more
Dont buy schagrin gas. Be careful when you enter a contract with this people. Note the contract is auto-renewing. Mine was supposed to auto-renew for 5 YEARS!!!. Also, they are refusing to sell me the tank and will only sell the tank to another Propane company, but when I arranged for that, they are now refusing to sell to them. Trying to get out of a contract with them seems to impossible. Currently trying to resolve my dispute via BBB but doesn't look hopeful.
