my name explains it all. – ive had good italian food and this is not a place to go for it! the service was terrible along with the bland food. i went there for lunch with some girlfriends after seeing this place on the drive and dine show w/food network to see what it was about. it took them forever (40 mins) to serve our food. our meals were not up to par for them to have been on any food show. not sure what all the hype is about... beginning to wonder if restaurants pay to be on tv for a boost in business. maybe it was jus... read more
I tell my family and friends," when you come visit, we will – I recently moved here from NJ. It was hard to find that little, cozy italian cafe /restaurant. I was really excited, sat there with a smile on my face after every bite. This place is definately on my list of the usual places I go
Best Place Ever – My Uncle took me to this restaurant when I visited him one summer. I had the greatest time there with all the people. The food I ate there was definately good. Especially the Calamari. I didn't make friends there, I made Family, and thats how it is there. Even for people that walk off the street. They do get a bit rowdy, but there are many great stories to be heard from each of them. I will always remember Savarino's, and everytime I go to Nashville, I plan on going there whenever I can. I hope you all can ... read more
Fantastic simple Italian cuisine in a family setting – I always enjoy going to Savarino's. Corrado is a great host and the food is always delicious. Be prepared to wait a while for the food to be prepared, as there are no microwaves on site. The food is very simple and very good. Don't expect fancy flavor combinations or beautiful garnishes and presentation. Do expect tradition Italian fare with fantastic sauce, amazing breads and the best homemade desserts in town. Very allergy friendly as well, as Corrado prepares everythi... read more
Must've really gone downhill – Have read write ups on this place, and was excited to finally go. What a disappointment. I should have known something was wrong when restaurants on both sides were busy, and there was no one in Savarno's. Placed order with woman behind counter, who didn't seem to want to be there. Pizza came out burnt, and bland. My grandson who loves pizza wouldn't even eat it. I had a sandwich, which was very unimpressive. Seemed to have been thrown together in a hurry. Balsamic vinegar soaked one side of sa... read more
fun sandwich options – i went for lunch today and had the artichoke heart, roasted red pepper and goat cheese sandwich. they had a lot of dfferent sandwiches to choose from so it was hard to pick. the bread was obviously fresh and very crispy. my friend and i shared a rice ball which had a lot of flavor without being too overwhelming. they feature a different pasta special everyday so if today hadn't been carbonara day i would have tried a special. definitely recommend as non-generic italian with some thought put into the me... read more
It Was Just Average for Me – I recently went to Savarino's because I had heard about all the hype. Decided to take the recommendations of not only those reviewing here, but also from print articles. Ordered the Lasagna and a slice of cheesecake. The cheesecake was not that good. Publix cheesecake is 10X better. Lasagna was huge portion as other reviewers touted but it was very salty and oily. I did not enjoy my lunch. I was truly disappointed by the cheesecake. I grew up in NYC and I've had my share of NY Style Cheesecake. T... read more
Very Good Cheesecake – Yummy desserts, especially the cheesecake! Lasagna was great and a very generous portion easily enough for 2 people. Marinated veggie sandwich was a bit too vinegar-y for me, but veggies tender and good. Only a few tables so take out is a good idea. Last time I checked they didn't serve plain coffee--just espressos, etc. Italian grocery items available for purchase, too. Parking lot is tiny, but street parking is available. Get there early on weekend to get freshly baked pastries before they're gone!
The only authentic Italian food Experience in Nashville. A must for food lovers. – This is the place that Italian people who are in the "know" eat at. Most cities outside of the Northeast have convinced their citizens that a five-star Italian Dining Experience should consist of overwhelming portions of rich creamy pastas and cheesy lasagnas being served to you in low lighting by someone wearing a tuxedo. Well, let me be the first to say that although there is nothing wrong with that, it is far from what Italian food is. Bein... read more
