We used to take the people we support here for basic health care access. It used to be inclusive, accommodating, culturally supportive, trauma-informed, kind, and follow the 7 Teachings. No longer in the last 2-3 years. This organization has lost their way. One of our disabled community members was told by reception last month to book an appt with a nurse who was witness to an emergency. Clinic cancelled. Told Pt to get their health record instead. I’ll save you some time, they’ll just tell you to take Tylenol. I don’t know why we have walk in clinics in Canada, you don’t need a degree to tell someone to take pain killers. I had food stuck in my throat, and I could breath but it hurt so I didn’t want to go to the ER because I thought it wasn’t that bad, and someone would be able to help me.
