Folks, of all the options to owners of aging dogs, I feel that hydro-therapy, or more simply swimming, has to be one of the most cost effective. Not only that, but for most dogs it is simply fun. If they have leg or back troubles, supporting their weight in the water, at a nice warm temperature, under the supervision of trained therapists has to be a good idea. We have yet to see if our dog's treatment is effective, but we are most hopeful.
I called Mary Beth to find out the procedure to bring Aubree to her for swimming. Aubree is an older dog confiscated by the SPCA because the owner wouldn't help her to loose weight. She weighed 12 lbs. - double the weight she should have been. We started swimming her at the end of February, twice a week. It is now the first week of August and she has lost 4 lbs. already.
