CoZy SpoT ! GreAt FoOd iN MidTowN !! – Decided to try this place out after a friend of mine recommended it. I must say I was impressed with their menu selection. There were so many dishes to choose from that it took me a little longer to decide which one I wanted. I love variety. I ended up having the fried calamari appetizer (perfectly crunchy and I didn't have to chew each piece for an hour...lol!) and my date had the tomato and mozzarella appetizer and she loved it. Overall the food was incredible and the service great. N... read more
I just started working in the area of this cozy restaurant...I had never paid much attention to it, as to be honest, its quite small and not much to look at from the outside but once you get in, you won't want to leave. I took my girlfriend here for the first time, a couple of weeks ago, and from the moment we walked in the door, we felt so welcome and taken care of, we would just look at one another every once in a while and smile...the loud and hilarious bartender, the extremely charming owner, the friendly staff and then ... read more
Worst and expensive food in NY! – We had a horrible dining experience at San Martin New York. Expensive. Horrible food. Old Building Don't even try to order flan or a tiramisu (they used whipping cream instead marcapose cheese!!!)
This is a wonderful find, right in the heart of the City. The luncheon menu is extremely reasonable, and the fare is very good. It is an attractive, friendly restaurant that has all the attributes of a much more expensive venue. When we go to the City (from upper Westchester County) this is our usual haunt. We refer to it as Our Club, as do a number of my business associates. Ramon San Martin, the genial owner and host of this eponymously named restaurant, will greet you like an old friend once you have been there.
Poor Service – The food was good but definitely overpriced. The service was spotty since our wait staff seemed somewhat uppity. Wait staff must have thought acting snooty translated into "high-class." Hardee har har... The restaurant itself is cozy and beautiful. The crowd tends to be older folk either there for business or socialites catching up w/ friends. The only way I'd go back to San Martin is if it's on company expense.
Do not go here! – Bad service, bad food, long wait, too pricey!!!! After eating half of my meal, and tried to get the waiter's attention, I had to wait nearly half an hour! I would of had to jump up an down and shout to get the hell outta there. If you have a choice in the matter do not go here!
Avoid at all costs – For an $$$ restaurant I expected much more. I would of been better off eating at Sbarro for a satisfying experience. The food was mediorcre and the service was awful - some of the worst I've experienced ever. I did not know who our waiter was, over 4 different waiters came to our table - the "wait" is all we got. We had to wait forever to order dessert and wait another half an hour before our check arrived, only to find out that they had given us the wrong check. I would not recommend this restaurant to ... read more
Great continental dishes – My wife and I have been at San Martin several times and not one we were dissapointed. The food is delicious, the service, on of the best. We also discover that San Martin has once in a while has live music shows, from Jazz to Flamenco. Even without the shows, every Friday and Saturday famous Flamenco guitarrist Domingo Alvarado is there playing and singing great Flamenco tunes. Look at the pictures of famous Artist that have visited this place, including Domingo Alvarado playing for Frank Sinatra a... read more
Lacks in taste and quality – For four $ signs I expected high quality, creative, tasty food. Lunch was rather bland, soup of the day was oversalted, salad had canned roasted peppers and overly oily eggplant (in fact, everything we ordered had too much oil). Salmon was ok, however, sides were very simple and looked microwaved. Portions were huge and the food was just "ok" - definitely overrated w its "9" rating. You can get much better food at the same price at other restaurants.
San Martin Restaurant has a 4.4 star rating with 71 reviews.
