HORRIBLE FOOD – 1 star is one too many. The bread basket had little whole wheat rolls that could have been used for hockey pucks. The bruschetta was completely tasteless. The Caesar salad was the only good food. Tomatoes and homemade mozzarella was served on crunchy green tomatoes -- more tastelessness. The pasta primavera had frozen peas, canned mushrooms, and left over grated salad carrots... and was completely tasteless. The veal parmigiana was as tough (and tasteless) as shoe leather drowned in greasy cheese. Side pasta ... read more

Wouldn't Recommend It – A couple of girlfriends and I decided on San Martin for our last meal in NY, being that it was so close to our hotel and all. We sat down immediately, which was great, but as each plate of food arrived at our table, we knew the food was going to be sub par. We ordered the calamari to begin with and it was as chewy as could be! I ordered the penne artista, which sounded delicious but turned out to be anything but. home away from home – Hello! San Martin Restaurant. We finally find a place where we felt like home. Nice spot, convenient Midtown location near Waldorf Astoria, Marriott, W. Hotels. The place is full of tourists from all over the world, where you can hear the staff speaking several languages. Very impressive menu and during the lunch time you can get a three course meal for $19. Wow. Great food, friendly and happy staff. It's a winner.

Delightful dinner to finish our trip – We had the best time at our last dinner in New York before departing for home. San Martin is a quiet, sophisticated and cosmopolitan place to enjoy a memorable evening with good friends. We shared a couple of plates of calamari for everyone and I had the Bistecca Pepe Rosso (an all American Sirloin). Everything was just great. Good wine, good company, good food. I’ll be back again for certain.

terrible. – An exceptionally terrible restaurant, which prompted me to write this review, something I rarely do. I was there with a larger corporate group. The service was indifferent. My mozzarella with tomato and basil appetizer was a joke. (Note to the chef: when produce is not in season, don't put it on the menu.) Green, tasteless tomatoes, sloppy slice of mozzarrella doused in oil and two basil leaves. My entree, capellini with tomato sauce was a disgusting mess of overly garlicky, salty sauce (which was no better than ... read more
