first day at smtc i watched a six year old get his arm broken, you heard the snap louder than the scream (he was autistic) my roommate then had a panic attack and i watched the staff throw her down concrete stairs. she had a black eye and was covered in bruises. i did everything i could to report the abuse but i was only able to leave. stay safe the staff is abusive both mentally and physically. keep your babies away from this place
RecommendedI most definitely recommend others to SMTC. I’ve learned so much about how to better myself as person and to cope with my depression. There were some times when the MHA’s (Staff members) would be hurtful, but I’ve never encountered physical harm. (unless you’re endangering yourself or others) The only thing that was “harmful” was the PH (physical hold) if you continue to resist and not calm down, an E-med will be authorized to be used on you. Good caring staff here to help teens with behavioral issues. SMTC has really helped me out with learning how to cope with my issues. Highly recommend SMTC.
I went here after the loss of my mother to figure out some underlying issues and my grief.. it was wonderful. I was treated kindly and fair. The staff they had was amazing. My counselor changed my life and who I was as a person. I still think about her! I was here in 2011-2012 I think. Her name was Amy. She was so awesome. I hope it’s as wonderful now as it was back then. They set me up for success in my life.
This was the best facility ive ever been to i loved it so much its been almost 3 years simce ive been in a facility im so proud of my self sanmarcos has helped so much thank much love for all the staff that i had i miss you all thank you so much for helping me
Staff abuses patients. Don't let them convince you otherwise.
The staff cares about the kids.
I am not sure if I have the correct place here but I was in a treatment facility that has the same name. I was abused while living there. It happened on and off for a period of almost 4 years. I was a teenager then (age 14 to 16). I saw others get abused there too. It was so sad that the staff got away with that or so long. Hopefully they will get caught one day. The abuse has left me with permanent psychological damage. People should not get away with this stuff. Abusing teens/children is never ok.
I was a resident there from 1981 until the end of 1983.
